„I feel the safest when I submerge myself in water. The river can carry me away,
and I am at peace with that. I tell this story, along with the story
of my month-long journey down the Vistula River to the Baltic Sea,
to someone who cannot swim, yet lived on a boat for three years,
wondering each night, with fear, if they would notice if they started to drown.
This is a story about how we exploit rivers, how we confront fear,
and ultimately how we – find freedom.”
